From Granada we crossed through miles of rolling hills covered with silvery olive trees on our way to our next stop--Ronda. As we drove, the smell of freshly crushed olive oil floated across the landscape. The silhouette above is of the Puente Nuevo. Built in the 1700s, it spans the 330 foot deep Tajo Gorge and connects Old Ronda to "New" Ronda. There is a wonderful illustration in the children's book Ferdinand where Ferdinand the Bull passes by this very bridge on his way to the bull fight in Madrid. Sam enjoyed seeing the bridge in the book come to life before his very eyes.
