We checked some of the routes followed by Spain's version of the Tour de France--the
Vuelta a España. This is at the top of a fearsome 1800 meter climb
called Puerto de las Palomas. The eight
stage of the 2002 Vuelta summited this puppy a
month before we visited. The rider-supporting grafitti still had not worn
off the road.
