15 years before this photo was taken, I lived in this apartment with Alfonso and Loly Martinez while I attended the University of Sevilla. When we buzzed their doorbell in October of 2002, I had not seen Loly and Alfonso since 1988. Nor had I told them I was coming to Sevilla. Loly recognized my voice instantly. Scaling the stairs to her second floor flat and entering it it was as if those intervening years had never happened. What a treat it was to introduce Loly and Alfonso to Sam, Nico, and Melinda.
