Foggy trees on Mount Palomar's Nate Harrison Grade.
Nate
entered California as a slave in the mid-1850s. When California entered
the Union in 1850, his Kentucky master had to free him. Free Nate ended
up homesteading near these trees on the western flanks of Palomar. This
image also appeared in Popular Photography magazine.
